We agree absolutely ...
We agree absolutely. We deliver strategy mapping workshops to generate buy-in and refine the strategy i.e. it's a high involvement approach. The video was designed to get the message about alignment out whereas actual deployment techniques vary with organisational maturity.

This is slick to ...
This is slick to the point of banal - "Organisations don't perform, people do, one by one..."? Oh, really???

The depressing thing about this sort of stuff is that it's all written from the perspective of "Here's the strategy, now let's align people with it" - i.e. tell-and-sell. Fact is, people buy-in (align) best to strategies they've had some hand in creating. Alignment starts with giving people Voice. If you can say something about that, you'll be saying something interesting...

This is a marketing ...
This is a marketing tool where they are trying to convince people that if the 'structure' is good enough, people will fall into line. It avoids any thinking about the deeper issues around how people within systems have anxieties that need to be understood and worked with. That is the difficult work but it is also authentic work. But I can see how some organisations would sign up to this approach because it is selling a panacea. Alignment: don't we do that with wheels on cars?
